Community Involvement
Kramer Tree Donates Holiday Tree to West Chicago
The City of West Chicago's Frosty Fest was held on December 3. Despite the rainy weather, many from the community attended the parade of singing troupes, live reindeer & holiday characters and witnessed the creative hand of Joe Gagnepain as he sculpted an ice block into Santa Claus. The final destination of the parade was on Main Street where the city's holiday tree was lit by the mayor. Once again, the fully decorated holiday tree and installation was a gift to the community from Kramer Tree Specialists of West Chicago.
'Tis the Season…
The Anderson Animal Shelter Gala Fundraiser on November 5th was a success! The proceeds will help care for the animals that depend on staff and volunteers.
We were elated to learn that the gentleman who was the highest bidder at the Gala for the Holiday Lights Display by KTS "paid it forward" and gifted the holiday light installation to a local family in North Aurora.
Happy Holidays!
2011 West Chicago Brilliance in Business Community Image Award goes to…
Kramer Tree Specialists!!!
KTS has grown in stature since 1974 as a family-owned business committed to its philosophy of empowering the consumer in the role of caretaker of their trees for the benefit of future generations to the internationally recognized leader in the arboricultural industry that it is today. Owner Joe Kramer and family have built a state-of-the-art facility at 300 Charles Court that has advanced the image of the West Chicago business community and captured the attention of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). The ISA selected KTS from all the greater Chicago area tree care companies as the host company for its 2010 international conference tour. Closer to home, KTS contributed to the community's annual Frosty Fest holiday event last year by donating its services to remove a 35' live spruce tree that had become too large for the front yard of a West Chicago resident, transporting it and fully decorating it for the enjoyment of the entire community.

Anderson Animal Shelter – South Elgin, IL
www.andersonanimalshelter.org
Kramer Tree Specialists has been supporting Anderson Animal Shelter since 2007. We have donated tree pruning and removals over the years along with a collaborative effort with Great Impressions Landscaping to enhance the front of the building in 2010. These types of services tend to go to the wayside with not for profits.
On a personal note, Jan Kramer and her sister Denise Kennedy donate and arrange the seasonal decorations in the shelters lobby, and have continued the theme outside to the decorating/planting of containers.
The shelters largest fundraiser of the year, "A Night to Paws" dinner and auction gives us the opportunity to purchase a table for the event and donate our Holiday Lights service to the highest bidder in the "live auction". The evening is always uplifting and inspiring.
"Touch-a-Truck"
Kramer Tree Specialists, Inc. participates on a yearly basis in the "Touch-a-Truck" events in the City of West Chicago and the Village of Downers Grove. Big trucks and equipment hold big interest for children of all ages. Youngsters and adults have an opportunity to look at, sit in or climb on unusual trucks and equipment provided by the police, fire departments and businesses. We look at this event as an educational opportunity for all ages to tout the value of trees.
Batavia Community Gardens
www.bataviafoodpantry.org
Batavia Community Gardens and the Batavia Food Panty volunteers had the foresight to realize the Washington politicians do not live where most of us live and know the economy is not "improving".
Last year they started to ask people to plant an "extra row" in the community garden and donate the additional produce to the Batavia Food Pantry. Recipients of the crops are encouraged to help maintain the garden and harvest the vegetables that they need.
Kramer Tree Specialists donated leaf mulch last spring to amend the soil when they were beginning to plant. Apparently the crops produced very well that year and we were happy to donate another order of leaf mulch this spring to aid in their efforts.
We hope for the continued success of these programs and are grateful we can be a part of their good works.
